The partnership between Sam's Club and the Food Bank of Central Louisiana is making a powerful difference in the fight against hunger across our region.

Just down the street from the food bank, the Alexandria Sam’s Club plays a vital role through the Retail Rescue Program—an initiative supported by both Walmart and Sam’s Club that ensures high-quality, surplus food reaches neighbors who need it most. Three days a week, food bank drivers arrive to pick up donations of fresh meat, produce, and bakery items. These perishable foods are quickly sorted and distributed, helping ensure families have access to nutritious meals.

The impact is significant. In just the first quarter of this year, Sam’s Club donated 111,672 pounds of food—equating to more than 93,000 meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity in Central Louisiana.

This partnership is just one example of how businesses and community organizations can come together to create meaningful change. Additional support comes from Sam’s Club and Walmart through the annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign, offering everyone a chance to get involved.

Now through May 3, community members can support hunger relief in three simple ways:

Together, through strong partnerships and community support, we are ensuring that more families across Central Louisiana have access to the food they need.
