Food Bank of Central Louisiana Receives Grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation to Support Child and Family Hunger Relief Programs in Central Louisiana
The Food Bank of Central Louisiana announced today that a $32,000 grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation will support its programs to more effectively reach children and families facing hunger in Central Louisiana.
Support from this grant will go toward programs including the Mobile Pantry Program. This program meets the unique needs of the Food Bank’s rural and underserved communities by offering services in their area and providing neighbor access to nonperishable food items, fresh fruits and vegetables. The Food Bank provides the Mobile Food Pantry Program in 27 rural communities each month.
Food insecurity exists in every county, parish and borough in the United States. It impacts people regardless of background, demographics, location, or disability. In Central Louisiana, one in 5 people, including one in 4 children, face hunger.
The Food Bank of Central Louisiana is one of 39 Feeding America® partner food banks receiving funding from the Morgan Stanley Foundation this year, as part of its long-standing commitment to supporting children’s health in communities across the country. Last year, the Morgan Stanley Foundation committed $8 million in additional funding to Feeding America, bringing the firm’s total funding to more than $50 million since 2009 to support local hunger-relief programs that deliver food assistance and nutritious meals to children and families.
“We are proud to support the Feeding America network of food banks and their critical work to reach communities facing hunger across the country,” said Joan Steinberg, President of the Morgan Stanley Foundation.
