A garden is forever the practical and symbolic beating heart of humanity. It is that tucked away oasis of healing comfort so beloved by individuals, families, and communities as a place that nourishes the body, but also feeds the mind and the spirit. Here is the story of one such spot.
A major goal of the Good Food Project has been to educate Food Bank clients, youth, and the general public about organic, sustainable gardening practices. The hope was that individuals and groups would be encouraged and motivated to grow their own healthy food to experience the lifelong pleasures and benefits of gardening and as a compliment to fulfilling The Food Bank’s mission to alleviate hunger in Central Louisiana.
