An elderly couple from Grant parish came to the Food Bank unannounced to see our executive director. The husband has been volunteering to distribute food boxes to the needy seniors for many years. When they came to visit us at the Food Bank, we thought they had come to apply for the Adopt-a-Senior program themselves. But, they were coming to seek help for their neighbor. She is 64, about to turn 65, and lives alone. Peggy makes about $500 per month. The 27th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is on May 11

Saturday, May 11th marks the 27th anniversary of one of America’s great days of giving — the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food drive. Letter carriers walk through the community every day, often coming face to face with a sad reality for too many­­­—hunger. So, each year on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect non-perishable food donations from their customers. The donations we collect locally go directly to food pantries in central Louisiana to provide food to people who need our help.
