Chick-Fil-A Alexandria Mall Supports Food Bank's BackPack program during November

During the month of November, purchase a decadent chocolate chunk cookie and Chick-fil-A Alexandria Mall will donate 25 cents to the Food Bank of Central Louisiana's BackPack Program. The Food Bank of Central Louisiana’s BackPack Program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. The backpacks are filled with food that children take home from school on Friday afternoons to provide food for the weekend. The food is child-friendly, nonperishable, and easily to prepare. The Food Bank currently serves more than 1,230 students across Central Louisiana.

The Markets Conducts Fresh Produce Drive for the Food Bank

It's that time of year again when Ball Foods conducts a fresh produce campaign for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. From November 1 - 13, Ball Foods will sell 1/2 and whole cases of apples, oranges, and celery and whole cases of Louisiana sweet potatoes at a discounted rate. Shoppers can purchase the produce for the Food Bank to be distributed to clients prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. When shoppers check out at Ball Foods, there will a price list posted of what items are available to purchase. Just let the cashier know what you want to purchase for the Food Bank and Ball Foods will do the rest. For more information about the program, please contact Ball Foods at 318-640-4651.

Feeding America's CEO Visited Food Bank of Central Louisiana

The new Chief Executive Officer of Feeding America visited the Food Bank of Central Louisiana to tour the facility, visit a community garden, and volunteer to pack food boxes on October 18. Babineaux-Fontenot is the first Feeding America CEO to visit the local food bank. As Chief Executive Officer, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot oversees the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization and third largest U.S. charity according to Forbes. Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meals programs. Time for schools to prepare for the Christmas Cheer Food Drive Avoyelles, Grant, Natchitoches, Rapid

The Food Bank of Central Louisiana is asking local schools to participate in the Christmas Cheer food drive by collecting non-perishable food items for those in need across central Louisiana. Last year, Avoyelles, Grant, Natchitoches, Rapides, and Vernon parish schools collected 110,435 pounds of food to help needy families in our community. The food collected is distributed through the Food Bank of Central Louisiana’s member agencies in the parish it was collected. The pick-up schedule for this year’s Christmas Cheer food drive is as follows: Monday, December 10 – Grant parish Tuesday, December 11 – Vernon parish Wednesday, December 12 – Natchitoches parish Thursday, December 13 – Avoyelle
