8th Annual Dennis Dow Adopt-a-Senior Ride

American Legion Riders Post 145 in Leesville will host the Annual Dennis Dow Adopt-a-Senior Ride to support the Food Bank of Central Louisiana’s Adopt-a-Senior program in Vernon Parish on September 15. The ride will begin and end at the American Legion Riders Post 145, and the ride starts at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The cost per rider is $20, and $10 per passenger. This is the eighth year for this fundraising event which has raised $106,700 for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana’s Adopt-a-Senior Program. Cajun Nationals Car Show to Benefit Food Bank

This is the eighth year for this fundraising event which has raised more than $21,000 and 13,000 pounds of nonperishable food items for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. The event will be held September 21-23 at Buhlow Lake in Pineville, The spectator entry fee for the event is $10 a day, with $5 off with the donation of five nonperishable food items. Children under the age of 10 get in free. The vehicle entry fee is $35, or $30 with the donation of five nonperishable food items.

Cenla Band-Aid Food Drive to Benefit the Food Bank

Cenla Band-Aid is an all-day concert featuring local musicians benefitting the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. The following musicians will be performing: The Hoochie Digs, Papa’s Axe, Delta, The Parker James Trio, Peas and Cornbread, Leo Cole and The Blues Rockets, The Kelli Roberts Bank, Avery Michaels & Exit 209, Sor Live, and Mojo Killjoy. Tickets are $10 or $5 with the donation of 5 cans of food. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Music begins at noon.

Ball Foods to Host 10th annual Tailgating for the Tigers Food Drive

To kick off football season, Ball Foods is hosting a Tailgating with the Tigers event on September 1 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Events planned for the day include free food samples, in-store demonstrations, giveaways, and a cake walk. This September the Food Bank of Central Louisiana together with the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks, will mobilize across all 50 states in an effort to bring an end to hunger. Hunger Action Month is designed to inspire people to take action and raise awareness of the fact that 41 million Americans, including nearly 13 million children, are food insecure, according to the USDA. In central Louisiana more than 16.6% people struggle with hunger and may not know where they’ll find their next meal. That number includes one in 5 kids who may not have enough to eat.
