The Food Bank of Central Louisiana and the Adopt-A-Senior program
The Adopt-A-Senior Program was designed to help supplement impoverished seniors nutritional needs so that they are not faced with the difficult decision of choosing between medicine, rent and food. Seniors in the program receive 50 pounds of food per month for a year. A $150 donation to the program will help provide food for a senior in our community.
The average age of the participants in the program is 81 and the average income is $967 per month. Eligibility is limited to those whose income falls below federal poverty guidelines and whose age is at least 65 or 60 and disabled.
The Adopt-A-Senior Program currently provides food for more than 2,300 seniors, but there are people still in need.
To support a senior citizen, all you have to do is mail $150 for the Adopt-a-Senior program. Make checks payable to: Food Bank of Central Louisiana, Inc. Our mailing address is: 3223 Baldwin Avenue, Alexandria, LA 71301-3506. Please make a notation on your check indicating the Adopt-A-Senior Program. All donations are tax deductible.
